DBH is giving all contracted hospitals a 30-day grace period, to expire 6/15/2023, while each hospital acclimates to the changes.
The following is what will/will not be permitted during the 30-day grace period:
If hospitals miss a deadline for submission, the authorization will not automatically be denied during the first 30 days if hospitals submit the documentation as soon as possible but no longer than the 30-day grace period.
Hospitals are still required to complete and submit required documentation; the grace period does not cover failure to submit.
Hospitals that submit documentation to DBH in error, will be redirected to submit the documentation in Atrezzo and must do so within the 30-day grace period.
DBH will not review any documentation for services on or after May 15, 2023.

We are excited to announce the following counties are schedule to be the first to go-live with the CalMHSA inpatient utilization review process:
In preparation for the CalMHSA go-live, Kepro will begin training the partnered counties on the new provider portal. The provider portal is used to complete clinical submissions and allow medical records to be received, stored, and transmitted electronically in compliance with HIPAA and other confidentiality laws.
The California Mental Health Service Authority (CalMHSA) awarded concurrent review and authorization of inpatient psychiatric hospital and psychiatric health facility services on behalf of multiple California County Mental Health Plans (MHPs).
